Message from Raven Hills Homeowners Association - - [#XN1585272]

To all Raven Hills Homeowners, Please see the attached message from The Board of Directors of Raven Hills. Let us know if you have any difficulty in opening it. Thank you! Sincerely, Diversified Association Management on behalf of Raven Hills Homeowners Association Subject line: Apology and Update for 50 Mikado Dr. E Child Care Dear Raven Hills Community, The Board would like to formally apologize to Ms. Stacie Warren, for statements and actions to oppose her application for a Conditional Use Development Plan (CUDP-22-0015) with the city. Our communication with the community did not provide both sides of the situation. We immensely regret the way this situation deteriorated into an adversarial incident. Our intent was never to paint Ms. Warren or the service she provides to the community in a negative light. We continue to believe the Board has an obligation to the Raven Hills community to uphold the governing documents - including our Association's covenants pertaining to private ...

FACT CHECK: The Appeal of the Raven Hills HOA @ City Council

Kris Anderson presented to City Council on Tuesday, April 11th an appeal requesting City Council reverse the decision of the city's Planning Commission and deny the permit issued for 50 Mikado Dr. E. Ms. Anderson spoke as a Board member and identified herself to be representing the Raven Hills Homeowners Association.  Those asking City Council to deny the appeal in support of the conditional use permit believe there were numerous false statements made in Ms. Anderson's presentations of information, both to the Planning Commission and to City Council, and now to the Members of the Raven Hills HOA. For the purpose of advocating for a discussion based on facts, a selection of Ms. Anderson's falsehoods and misrepresentations are addressed and dismantled, supported by citations, as detailed below. Statements by Ms. Anderson are quoted directly from her comments and presentation, which was recorded on video, to City Council:  1. Ms. Anderson has represented both to City Council (...

Stolen Election: The abuse of proxy ballots to manipulate the Board and Annual Assessment Amounts of the Raven Hills Homeowners Association

Raven Hills Homeowners:  Your ballots were abused and manipulated last fall by existing Board members. These Board members acted in an attempt to manipulate the Board election and to double your annual assessments.  Did you want the Board to use your proxy at last October's Annual Meeting to vote to DOUBLE your annual dues to $240? They say you consented to this when you gave them your proxy.  Did you want the Board to leverage your proxy to take executive action and steal the election from everyone in attendance at the Annual Meeting? They say you should have known that was a risk when you gave your proxy to them.  The Annual Raven Hills Homeowners Association meeting took place on October 25, 2022. Those of you who attended the 2022 Annual Meeting got a very clear look at how dysfunctional, uninformed, and disengaged our Board of Directors have become. Homeowners were asked to approve a budget that reflected inflated fees to be paid to Diversified for services rel...

Haley Murphy's Response to Message from Raven Hills Homeowners Association [#XN1572735]

As the Raven Hills HOA Board acknowledged in their community email earlier today , I, along with Mary Jenkins, was removed from the Raven Hills Architectural Control Committee (ACC) for speaking in support of the child care home at City Council. I believe this action was explicitly retaliatory, and the Board knows I feel this way. The Board has expressed they feel I disrespected and blindsided them at City Council, to which I ask: Is it "disrespect" to simply present a different perspective? Is it a "blindside" to present a factual recounting of reality? To be sure, my position was opposite that of the Board, but I am confident I gave a factually accurate and honest statement (provided below), whereas there were countless numerous lies and misrepresentations in the Board's presentation - falsehoods that they have repeated to the community more than once. Yes, I expressed my issues with how the Board has handled this publicly , because they took this issue to a p...

City Council: Quotes and Takeaways

The Board of the Raven Hills HOA on Tuesday, April 11th presented to the City Council their appeal of the City's Planning Commission's approval of a conditional use permit for the home child care located at 50 Mikado Drive. City Council voted 7-2 to uphold the decision of the Planning Commission and as a result denied the Board's appeal. Their reasons for doing so are documented below in the form of direct quotes: If we uphold the appeal right now, they can reapply in June? Without hinderance? They can reapply in June for the exact same thing and it doesn't come to the Council? So the value of accepting this appeal is… two months? They can go ahead and (expand the daycare) in two months? It's a fool's errand - if we go ahead and accept this appeal... when, in fact, it has no merit - when we're done with this entire conversation.    -- Councilman Bill Murray This is indeed a recently enacted law and it says, "prohibitions contrary to public policy, patri...

Tuesday, April 11th: The HOA's Planning and Development Appeal to City Council

Kris Anderson on March 20th filed an appeal on behalf of the Raven Hills HOA, asking to overturn the Planning Commission's approval of the conditional use permit for 50 Mikado Dr. This appeal resulted in a hearing before City Council, which occurred on Tuesday, March 20th. Filing the appeal cost the HOA $176.  City Council voted 7-2 to deny the appeal and uphold the decision made by the Planning Commission. (The two councilmembers voting in favor of the appeal were O'Malley and Donelson.) This decision means Ms. Warren can proceed with her home child care for up to 12 children.

Mary Jenkins comments to City Council (Tuesday, April 11th)

Below are the comments given by Mary Jenkins at the City Council hearing of the Raven Hills HOA's appeal for the conditional use permit at 50 Mikado Dr. E. (Comments have been shared with permission.) Hi, my name is Mary Jenkins. I live on Mikado Lane and I also serve on the HOA’s Architectural Control Committee. I am here to express my support for Ms. Warren’s daycare, and to represent a group of young homeowners in the Raven Hills community who feel similarly. While our HOA’s Board has expressed that they are very unhappy with having a daycare, and have said in the past that they represent nearly all of the Ravenhill’s homes, they do not and cannot represent the entire area’s opinions. This is because they don’t know everyone’s opinion, they have only collected and asked for the negative ones. The average age of our Board is around 60 years old. Through this lens, I can understand how it could be easy for the Board to take a “not in my backyard” position on the daycare –it’s a s...
